Weather affecting Fiji Accommodation

February 13th, 2009 Posted in Fiji

Weather rolls in over Fijian resort.Fiji is one of Australia’s top holiday destinations. The stunning beauty of the island resorts, the wide range of accommodation types and the tropical weather are the main attractions. Like all countries in tropical regions rain is a blessing and also a curse. The rain keeps the vegetation green and lush but too much rain and the low-lying areas of Fiji flood and ruin holiday plans. December to March is when Fiji weather is at its hottest and it is when the heavy rains occur. Fiji is suitable for diving all year round. The winter months can be a bit chilly and full wetsuits may be required but visibility is at its best.

The months outside of summer are the busiest time for tourists to Fiji. With lots of sunshine, warm temperatures, lower humidity and pleasant gentle sea breezes it’s easy to see why. This is called the peak season and when prices for Fiji accommodation is at its most expensive and availability is at its lowest. It may be important to remember than it rains more on the main island (Viti Levu) than it does on the smaller island resorts. Whatever your holiday getaway plans are, it’s always important to consider the likely weather conditions and plan accordingly.
