Think of warm sunny days on long sandy beaches surrounded by lush tropical trees and you could be in Bali! While Bali is popular from tourists from all over the world, Australia provides the bulk of the international visitors. There has been some negative press in Australia lately about the travel warnings for Bali, but these warnings have remained unchanged for a number of years and truth is that right now Bali is more popular than ever. With a mix of surfing, sun and club night life, its easy to see why.
Bali is surrounded by coral but it is the white sandy beaches on the south of the island that draw in a crowd. The airport is located in the south and a quick 10 minute drive will have you at Kuta Beach - the main surfing destination and the hub of the party nightlife.
There is an impressive range of Bali accommodation to be found right on the beach and the beachfront properties are present all the way from Kuta and north to Legian and Seminyak.
The range and amount of Bali hotels on the south west coast is huge but the top luxury 5 star hotels are located a short drive away on the other side of the island. Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa is home to the exclusive resorts of Grand Hyatt Bali, The Westin Resort and The Sheraton Laguna Resort and Spa. All the sophistication and facilities you could ever need with a host of dining and room accommodation options. Further north is seaside Sanur, a more peaceful, laid back area with some upmarket resorts and villas and is great for families
An absolute favourite with Bali locals and visitors alike is Waterbom waterpark. Just in from the beach at Kuta, Waterbom has 15 world class slides and is open 7 days a week. There are some great Bali tour options too. You can dive at some of the reefs that circle the island, experience ocean rafting or a reef cruise, do some lake and volcano sightseeing or take you time and drive or cycle around the island.
So ignore the extra media attention and get on a plane over to Bali. There is something for everyone while on Bali holidays.
